The share of gas in the basket of different types of primary energy produced around the world is growing. This is largely due to new developments and exploitation of shale and tight gas from untapped reservoirs around the world. The growing need for clean fuel is driving major fast growing economies such as China and India to invest in increased exploration of natural gas. The economical price of gas is making it a more competitive source of power than oil and renewable energy such as wind and solar power.
